NU117/NUR1172: Nutritional Principle in Nursing

Dr Diane Hollie

May 26, 2023

Areas I have completed.

Based on my research on the evaluation of causes, symptoms, and treatment of diabetes, I have completed two significant areas. The first one is identifying five peer-reviewed articles to use in the research. The second part was identifying three peer-reviewed articles from the list of all the articles, summarizing them, and indicating how they would assist me in conducting the research. Based on the three articles, I covered major causes of diabetes, including consumption of an unhealthy diet, lack of physical activities through body exercises, and age and genetics (Pintus & Ng, 2019). People above the age of forty-five (45) are more likely to have diabetes compared to early age.

Areas I need to work on

There are critical areas I need to work on, including the evaluation of the role of nutrition in managing diabetes. The section is critical to my project since it will enable me to provide initiative-taking measures to prevent diabetes in advance. I need to work on the progression of the disease by examining pathogenesis, symptoms, and complications. I will concentrate on symptoms such as numbness, slow healing of wounds, blurred vision, fatigue, and frequent urination. The other remaining part is the different treatment methods; apart from consuming a healthy diet and regular exercise to manage weight, I will consider other methods such as blood sugar monitoring and insulin therapy.

Overcoming the challenges

When researching diabetes, the biggest challenge is selecting information that may or may not be credible. With so many sources available, it can take time to determine which ones are accurate and trustworthy. Furthermore, diabetes is a complex medical condition that requires in-depth knowledge and expertise to understand fully. This means that even sources claiming to offer reliable information on diabetes may contain inaccuracies or outdated data. However, there are several strategies you can use to overcome these challenges when researching diabetes. One approach is to focus on reputable institutions such as academic medical centers, Google Scholar articles, or government health agencies' websites for credible information.
