Introduction

Strategic Planning in health care organizations involves data gathering, reviewing measures

of past performance, and other eorts in order to identify gaps in knowledge or

misinterpretation of data. This review and analysis allows managers to improve the

strategic planning and identify the appropriate measurements to ensure goals are met.

In this activity, you will have the opportunity to review documentation and to meet with key

stakeholders in order to develop recommendations to improve the current strategic plan.

Educational Goals

After completing the activity, you will be prepared to:

Identify needs and gaps in an existing strategic plan.

Analyze quality improvement projections and budgets for gaps, mistakes, and areas

of uncertainty.

Recommend specic improvements to the current measurable goals in the

organization’s strategic plan.

Clarion Court Strategic Plan Analysis

From: Evelyn Unger, Project Coordinator

To: Archelia Johnston-Taylor

Archelia,

I'm going to be in and out of meetings today, but I wanted to touch base before I’m

completely unavailable.

To recap the goal of your meetings with Clarion Court, you’re looking at their strategic

planning, talking with stakeholders about their vision for the future, and putting together

some recommendations that can bridge the gaps between past performance, past

planning, and future goals.

I’ve put their last strategic plan and also some reports on key quality measures onto the

network drive for you. You should review those before heading into your meetings. I’ve

scheduled time with four key stakeholders and recommend you talk with each of them.

And, nally, I’ll check in with you after your interviews to get your initial thoughts. Until

then, I’ll leave you to reviewing the materials I mentioned.

Let me know if you need anything.

Evelyn Unger, Data Analytics Project Coordinator

Email Response to Evelyn Unger

Re: Clarion Court Strategic Plan Analysis

From: Evelyn Unger, Project Coordinator

To: Archelia Johnston-Taylor

Archelia,

I hope you had a productive day — I’m sure Stephen and his people brought you up to

speed on what’s going on at Clarion Court. I know you haven’t really had any time to digest

everything you learned today, but could you give me a high-level summary of what you

learned and what your next steps are?

I’m most interested in your thoughts on the key points you intend to focus on and what red

ags you noticed during your conversations and review of the materials.

I don’t need a full draft of your presentation — just initial thoughts and impressions.

Thanks,

Evelyn
