Discussion post 1: What is the distinction between performance appraisal and performance management

Reply back to classmate 1: She stated >>

Performance management is what managers manage and improve the performance of employees. It includes setting performance goals, checking on employees’ progress towards that goal, coming up with ways to make improvements, and giving feedback.

Performance appraisal uses standards that refer to how a job is supposed to be done, measured, and the levels of that performance. It can also dictate any increase in compensation. Most employers base your raise on your performance. The higher the score, the higher the raise percentage-within reason.

Performance management energetically manages an employee’s performance, productivity, and effectiveness and ensures that they have accomplished all the goals, vision, mission and the core values of the organization. Many time employers will create some type of performance-based pay to increase productivity and motivate employees. Essentially, the more you produce, or the more output given, the more money or financial incentives you as an employee will receive.
