The requirements of the organization’s varied jobs in new technology.
Because of old-fashioned technical knowledge at Featherfall Medical Center, government laws and regulations have been violated. Staff is not only out of date in terms of abilities, but also terms of technology. Disagreements in government rules, operational issues, and ethical quandaries caused by inadequate technology deployment have cost the organization money. Alert (Admission, Discharge, and Transfer ADT’) and Intel, two eligible vendors, have been chosen to meet Featherfall’s technology requirements (SOA Expressway for Healthcare).
These systems must meet three critical objectives: meet staff demands, protect healthcare integrity, and meet government criteria. Because Featherfall includes punishments for previous breaches, there are significant concerns regarding the cost of adopting and maintaining a new system. It is the correct decision to purchase a new computer system for Featherfall Medical Center. The medical center’s outmoded system has had a significant influence on the organization’s finances due to legislative requirements. Furthermore, they have difficulty maintaining the accuracy of their medical records. Some industries are plagued by a lack of training and clear communication routes. To be accepted, the new medical facility system must be user-friendly for employees, communicate well amongst itself, comply with HIPAA regulations, and adhere to legislative restrictions.
Recommended new health information technology system.
Intel is, in my opinion, the best new technology for Featherfall Medical Center (SOA Expressway for Healthcare). I feel Intel is a good fit for Featherfall Medical Center since the structure is easy to use and is possible to be rapidly integrated into normal tasks. The technology will also enable improved communication among employees. Intel’s system will generate discharge and transfer lists, making it easier to manage patient care. Furthermore, the system may generate records for patients based on their doctors and patients based on departments. The structure has numerous levels of protection and is password-protected. Despite the fact that HIPAA compliance has yet to be attained, UHDDS is in place and performing as expected. The following release will adhere to the guidelines of HIPAA (Durcevic, 2019). You may be confident that your health-related data is in capable hands because of the scale and depth of understanding of Intel.
How the organization could invest its financial resources in the recommended IT system more efficiently.
Although the Intel set-up is more expensive compared to the Alert (ADT) set-up, it has more knowledge. Intel, a company that has been in operation for 30 years and currently employs 364 medical systems. Intel paid $2,028,000 in total, while Alert paid $1,587,000. Intel cost $441,000 more than Alert (SNHU, 2019). Intel’s skills and resources will aid Featherfall Medical Center as a bigger company. The system is more expensive, but it will aid the medical facility in terms of governance, ethics, and compliance.
How the company could keep track of how the new health information system is being used.
Ad-hoc reporting is used by Intel to keep track of how its one-of-a-kind well-being data set-up is used (Durcevic, 2019). Ad-hoc reporting allows you to “address key business problems rapidly by providing an autonomous analysis, without the need to wait for standard analysis.” Ad hoc reports help administrators by emphasizing the organization’s expansion and long-term viability components. Intel also produces periodic reviews to monitor how the latest technique is being utilized.
How the company may invest its time most efficiently in deploying the new health information technology system.
Featherfall Medical Center can spend resources to building an advanced health information science set-up due to its locality (Durcevic, 2019). Featherfall may offer employees instruction on the latest technique to get them acquainted with how it operates. They prioritize observation of the success of the new platform and analyzing if any sound effects have resulted from the use of the technology. They may also consider how they may better its patients and the agency.

The field of healthcare information management (HIM) has seen radical transformations during the last decade alone. There has always been therapy for injuries or sicknesses, but their explanation has varied throughout time. Due to the lack of development in early civilizations, there are no records found in ancient periods. Before the Sumerian civilization of Mesopotamia developed scripts and writing on clay, no medical knowledge had been preserved (Robinson, 2010). The days of clay may be long gone, but the structure they established and the necessity to hunt out the causes and mechanisms of illness they left behind have not.
The American College of Surgeons (ACOS) began regulating and standardizing medical records in the 1920s. That’s when they founded what is now known as the American Health Information Management Association as the American Association of Record Librarians (Paigon, 2017). Later, in the 1960s, computers enabled electronic medical records, but the expense and space required to host a computer were enormous. New technology was needed to manage the increased effort of recording data for Medicare and Medicaid payments. There was a time when paper medical records were adequate and efficient.
A gynecological unit at the University Medical Center in Burlington, Vermont, implemented the first integrated health records system in 1971, continuing computer advancements throughout the 1970s. (Paigon, 2017). A computer’s capacity to keep health records was shown here, but they were only available to staff at the institution where they were first generated. Within a few years, in the 1980s, significant progress was achieved in creating healthcare software. Patients could benefit from a more competent electronic check-in procedure thanks to the initiation of automated registration. Electronic Health Records (EHR) were also a result of several medical blunders and patient fatalities in the 2000s. Feather fall Medical Center’s present problems may be solved by revamping the medical technology systems and teaching personnel to work together as a team. All employees must be aware of the new technological systems being implemented and the subsequent requirements for new rules. Because of this, employees must be informed of future EHR vendor introductions through meetings and conference calls. To ensure that all staff members understand how the new technology will help their roles at the healthcare institution, a training coordinator should offer hands-on training soon before installation. Training has to be hands-on and replicate as closely as possible the working environment of the person who is being trained (Cresswell et al., 2013). Employees would benefit from completing a three-week basic training course before they could begin working in their given positions. Employees will complete modules consisting of quizzes and examinations. After the course, a final exam will be given, and employees must score at least 80% to pass. Employees who don’t meet that standard will be required to repeat the course and get more comprehensive instruction. Annual training and refresher courses will be made accessible as needed, and new system upgrades will be released.
Standard Technologies
Healthcare information management now uses telemedicine, software, electronic health records (EHRs), among other technologies. Doctors may communicate with their patients through video calls or phone via telehealth. This is a current piece of software with a strong emphasis on precision. An electronic prescription (eRx) is sent to a pharmacy using EHR technology or via a separate electronic prescribing suite e-Prescribing (American Psychiatric Association, n.d.). Incorrect prescriptions and dosages are avoided since handwritten notes are difficult for patients to comprehend. Schedule appointments, take payments and keep track of everything using medical billing software. It is possible to reduce rework by integrating billing software with electronic health data. When a patient’s medical history is stored electronically in an EHR, the provider can keep track of everything from demographics to problems, treatments, vital signs, and previous health history to inoculations and lab results. However, the most important benefit is that it will improve the quality of care for patients.
Evaluate
The use and exploitation of cutting-edge information technology in healthcare are known as Healthcare Information Technology (HIT). The existing system at Feather fall Medical Center does not conform to the principles of Healthcare Information Technology. Inmates at the prison will benefit from a new technology that provides real-time access to patient information for several departments. Live-time access to patient records enhances patient care and communication between doctors and staff members. Before modernizing the system, a comprehensive examination of all departments and their support workers must be done. That way, the different phases of patient care are dealt with in the most effective way possible by using chosen technology, as stated. Reviewing Feather fall Medical Center’s organizational structure will reveal gaps in critical areas that have not yet been implemented (i.e., additional staffing such as a Health Informatics Manager or Nursing Informatics Specialist). Training for all departments will begin as soon as roles and rules have been defined. The Meaningful Use Incentives Program for Medicaid and Medicare will reward providers who demonstrate that they have received enough training to use new technology and collect more accurate data properly.

In addition to compensating any injured patients, the hospital may face extra consequences from regulatory agencies.

This health institution is being held accountable after a patient was given the wrong prescription and a doctor was unable to obtain Vitamin K to prevent infant hemorrhage. Pinnacle Health was an early complainant in a legal lawsuit filed against Pinnacle Health’s EHRs during these occasions. Many of these situations are costly, and they produce a lot of bad press for the health institution (Schencker, 2016).
In 2014, New York-Presbyterian Hospital consented to pay $4.8 million in damages for a physician’s attempt to disable a personal server on the NYP network that included automatedly secured health-related data. Legislation and regulations are in place to ensure that patients receive the best and safest treatment available. If standards of health and technology legislation are not followed, patient safety may be jeopardized. Medication administration errors are one complication that can lead to patient mortality. Incorrect coding and billing may result in the revocation of the provider’s license.

The HITECH Act, signed into law by President Barack Obama, expanded the HIPAA`s range and provided funding for the advancement of health information technology in clinical settings. Under the same rules and regulations that regulate technology, PHI (protected health information) must be kept as secure as possible. Security precautions must be taken to protect the facility?s patient data, and equipment from illegal access or harm. Patients must also be made aware of their privacy rights.
