The new scramble for Africa
There is an ongoing revival of some of the colonizers like France and its former colonies.
There are both political and economic aspects that are eyed by these colonies in the African
continent. In the past, the colonizers seemed not to have realized the wealth that Africa had.
They are now slowly getting back to ensure they take charge of the resources, which means the
African wealth. The political and economic price to earnings relationships shows that the
colonizers are slowly getting back to Africa. For example, most of the developers in the African
countries are not the locals but foreigners who claim to be doing so for the good of the Africans.
However, that is wrong since they are trying to outdo their competitors and become the overall
controller. In the example of United States and China, the U.S.A has accepted that China is far
much better in terms of encroaching Africa with development agendas. The USA however is
trying to come up with other ways of influencing the African countries to ensure they remain
relevant as a super power in the world.
There are some contrasting views about the economic relationships that China and some
African countries have. For example, China has entirely controlled the developmental agendas in
Kenya. Wherever you find a construction site, its most likely there is a Chinese company running
it. This shows how much the country has taken over African countries. The main question is
whether they are doing so to help the Africans or to benefit themselves both economically and
politically. China is taking advantage of the balance of power since they are sure the weaker
African countries will give in to their wants. If they construct a site on loan and the country is not
able to pay, then they have an agreement to take over big institutions, which means they are
slowly colonizing Africa a second time.
