Using the material on process improvement and Lean methodologies, choose an operational area within an organization (preferably your organization) in need of improvement.

Our hospital laboratory department provides results that are late and frequently erroneous due to short staff. The lab director cant find people applying for the vacant jobs in his lab because they pay lower than other hospitals. Also, they pay very low money for off-shift differential.

Take the LEAN methodology and outline a process improvement plan to address this problem.

Please describe the following potentials of the planwhat value will the improvement provide the customer, how will you engage key staff, what value stream efficiencies will be stressed (waste elimination), and what are the standards/metrics that will define success. After completion of the PI plan, please use the methodologies from Project Management, such as risk assessment, mitigation plan, work breakdown structure, and project schedule to create a project plan for implementation.

There is no required number of pages as this exercise is creative in nature, but 6 pages is recommended inclusive of diagrams, workflows, and supporting project management materials. It is expected that the use of diagrams and workflows reviewed as well as programs reviewed during the course are used in the completion of this project. This project must also follow all standards of process improvement and project management discussed throughout the semester.
