Nike segments their market by demographic. One demography that they focus on largely is Women. With so many sports dominated by women Nike has to give focus to these athletes. In 2015 Nike launched the #betterforit campaign which is described on their website as ?long-term commitment of motivating women to be active, take on new challenges and conquer personal goals?? (Nike News, 2015).? Nike is dedicated to reaching women as an important market. Nike utilizes geographic factors to segment the market. Nike is an international leader in footwear that does business all over the world.
Nike also segments Geographically.? A majority of Nike?s revenue is produced in North America. As the Form 10-K from the United States Security and Exchange Commission states ? NIKE Brand and Converse sales in the United States accounted for approximately 41% of total revenues? (Security and Exchange Commission, 2020).? Europe and China are also big markets for Nike. Nike promotes different ads in different geographic locations to make sure they target all their different geographic locations effectively.
Nike also segments their market by psychographic factors and focuses on people who live an active lifestyle. Most of Nike’s campaigns are focused on an activity such as running or other traditional sports. Nike attempts to attract the customer who lives for activity who are at the gym everyday or that live for a sport. Nike focuses on this customer that is why one of their mission statement detailed on their website is ?To bring inspiration and innovation to every athlete* in the world? (Nike, 2020).? ?Nike pursues and segments their market around the athlete.
