Epidemiology is the study of the distribution and determinants of health-related states or events (including disease), and the application of this study to the control of diseases and other health problems (World Health Organization). James Lind (1716-94; died at age 78) was a Scottish physician has been regarded as “Father of Preventive Medicine” he was faced with a disease scurvy caused by prolonged deficiency of Vitamin C in the diet. This condition was prevalent am sailors who spent months without fruits and fresh vegetables. This disease is caused progressive bodily weakness, spongy and inflamed gums, loose teeth, swollen and tender joins and a tendency toward ecchymosis tissues of blood from ruptured blood vessels resulting in anaemia. James recommended the use of lemons and oranges as mentioned in the medical literature as a cure for scurvy as early as 1611 and disease was cured in adults within six months. It is from James Lind‘s study were the field of nutrition epidemiology arise from and it is gain momentum even in the progression of HIV /aids and cancer prevention progression lies on dietary measures. Hi,
your first paragraph attracted me because you sounded like me. I am a type A person which means I do several things at a time thereby driving myself crazy. When I start multiple tasks, and can not finish any I stop and take a break. Before I go back to the tasks, I prioritize and then tackle the tasks one by one.. It has been working for me. Good luck!

Telomeres are DNA sequences at the ends of chromosomes that reduce in size every time a cell divides (BWH, 2014). Shorter telomeres have been linked to increased risk of aging-related disease and the decreased life expectancy, while longer telomeres have been associated with longevity (BWH, 2014). According to an online news article published by the Harvard Gazette, researchers at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) have determine that individuals that adherence to the Mediterranean diet show signs of having longer telomere (BWH, 2014). The descriptive epidemiological study conducted by BWH, analyzed 4,676 food-frequency questionnaire completed by women from a Nurses’ Health Study and measured the length of their telomeres; it was determined that a greater adherence to the Mediterranean diet was associated with longer telomeres and better qualities of health (BWH, 2014). The Mediterranean diet emphasizes on the primary consumption of plant-based foods, replacing butter with healthy fats, the use of herbs and spices instead of salt to flavor foods, limiting the consumption of red meat to no more than a few times a month, the frequent consumption of fish and poultry, and the importance of being physically active, and enjoying meals with family and friends (Mayo Clinic, 2013). Hey, I just saw the assignment topic list. I printed out the target population document
and must have skipped this document. Oh my goodness, I really worked hard that
paper and did it wrong. Good gracious. May I attempt to redo. I printed out the
assignment topics and hypertension/stroke prevention is listed on there. I can work on
it this weekend and try to have it ready by Sunday night. I would like to redo both
papers but I will swallow first “d” reluctantly but I know I can improve that grade but
second, nanhhhh, I really put a sufficient effort to improve my grade and not taking
another “d” too likely because I didn’t complete the assignment correctly. Request a
redo. Let me know, what you decide.

Good Evening Professor,
For the final assignment, would it be proper to write about banning young adults from
buying tobacco products and the model I would use would be SEM?
The public health issue is tobacco use/purchase and the target population would be
young adults under 21. I am not sure what you meant by “in your community” but I did
find an article based in Maryland which is where I reside. Is that what you meant by
community? I would be most grateful for your input.
