Trauma is difficult to define. “One can define trauma as an event or series of events that

renders the child helpless and breaks through ordinary coping strategies, or both” (Falsca). It is

often forgotten that infants, toddlers, preschoolers and adolescents are at a higher risk of exposure to trauma. At these ages, children are vulnerable to influence because this is considered a rapid developmental period.
