Tai Rayment
To find courses that apply to my degree, I have narrowed me search to classes that apply to early learning. Some of the key words I have used have been “child development”, and “early learning.”Some of the courses I found were, CE100 Preparing for a career in early childhood development, and CE215 Early childhood curriculum.
Topic 2

042 Purdue Global, Online
5.00 Quarter Hours
In this course, students will study teaching methods for educational settings that serve young children. Attention will be given to developmental domains, strategies for planning, organizing the learning environment, facilitating teacher-child interactions, guiding children’s behavior, conducting lessons, assessing, care giving, supporting play, and addressing standards through integrated and emergent curriculum.
*Identify the domains of development to be considered in curriculum planning. *Explain the importance of the learning environment and planning and how they influence behavior and learning. *Apply knowledge of curriculum practices for young children.

The course description is related to the outcome because they both strategies to planning and curriculum.Within the course description it talks about the learning environment and child development which encompasses the outcomes. The examples I have of my learning autobiography that relate to this course, is my experience lesson planning as a preschool teacher within the state standards, the ECEAP standards, and the standards of Early Achievers. I will go back and add more individualized experiences as a teacher that relates to all the lesson planning experience and curriculum I have been using.

Topic 1: The Course Explorer
During my research of my degree plan I was able to find three courses that I would be able to use in my portfolio. Prior to enrolling in this class I had already been aware of the courses I was going to petition. Since, I transferred in several credits, this limited me to courses that I can apply in EL206. When, I was using the course explorer to search key terms I used the course description names and the course ID. I found it to be much faster by just typing in the course ID. However, when I went back to see what I would find by entering key words I used: stress, theory, and abnormal. All of those words are in the title of the courses I am petitioning. After, reviewing a few other classmates discussions, it seemed that our strategies were similar.
Topic 2: Course Description and Outcomes in Course Explorer
This is one of the courses I am petitioning for.
PS440 Abnormal Psychology
This course presents an integrative and multidimensional perspective to the fascinating field of abnormal psychology. Students will acquire basic knowledge of various psychological disorders, including depression, anxiety, and psychotic and mood disorders. Students will be introduced to how abnormal behavior is defined, assessed, and diagnosed using the current classification system, as well as the limitations of assessment. The course will provide an overview of the various models used to understand psychological disorders and the therapeutic approaches used to treat them. Additionally, students will be given an overview of the legal, economic, and sociocultural influences on abnormal behavior and the mental health system in order to gain a greater understanding of how mental illness affects all in our society.
PS440-1: Compare the historical, cultural, and current perspectives of normal and abnormal behavior. PS440-2: Analyze the psychological, biological, and sociocultural influences on abnormal behavior. PS440-3: Evaluate the legal and ethical issues associated with abnormal behavior. PS440-4: Develop a comprehensive case study of a psychological disorder.
The course description states what the course is about and the information that will be learned. The course outcome portrays exactly what will be learned and how it can be applied through comparing, analyzing, evaluating, and developing. I feel that my experiential learning will support this class because of my five plus years of experience as a behavioral health technician working in drug and alcohol treatment facilities that are dual diagnosis. I have taken several training seminars in mental health disorders, legal and ethical issues within the dual diagnosis field. On a daily basis I work with several clients who not only suffer from addiction but have severe mental health problems. I have additional training’s that fall under mental health that can be added to my expanded resume and learning autobiography.
