The digital health revolution is one of the key drivers of transformation in the healthcare industry. It will transform how people care for themselves and how the industry is structured. As more people become involved in their care, the need for more transparency and personalized care will also rise. The rising cost structures in developed countries are one of the main drivers of the healthcare industry's transformation. This will create a "burning platform" for providers, policymakers, and consumers. The need for new health professions will also increase as the availability of workers is not enough to meet the demand.

An integrated delivery system will make the most impact in the healthcare industry in the next five years. It’s a healthcare organization that includes various providers such as hospitals, physicians, and post-acute facilities. It provides a broad range of care services. It has been stated that the improved coordination of care provided by IDSs can lower the cost of healthcare. For instance, a larger organization can consolidate various functions and human resources to lower its expenses. An integrated system can also improve the quality of care it provides by implementing effective programs and delivering the appropriate type of care at the right time. Despite the small effect of vertical integration on hospital admissions, researchers found that it increased the organization's market share and prices. They also found that physician groups that are owned by hospitals spend more on each patient. In addition, when hospital systems own multi-specialty groups, they spend almost 20% more on each patient. Gans' studies also revealed that the lower productivity of physicians working in hospitals is related to their employment.

In conclusion, the quality of health care is often viewed in terms of its delivery. Although there are many different types of integrated systems that exist in the US, the main method of delivering health care in the country is through a combination of independent components. For instance, outpatient care is provided by a combination of specialist physicians and primary care.
