Purpose: This assignment gives you an opportunity to analyze your own personal cultural background and how it may influence your attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors toward others.
Description: Consider your own personal cultural background. Reflect on your life, your upbringing and your own family’s heritage, as well as the surroundings of the community where you grew up. Consider your earliest images and exposures to ethnicity, race, gender, social classes, religions, and sexual orientation. Analyze and reflect on how your personal cultural background and experiences may influence ones attitude, beliefs, and behaviors toward others.
Instructions:
Include an APA formatted title page (see p. 61 in the APA manual for how to format a student title page). Citations and a reference page are not required, unless you cite from a source. No abstract required.
You may write in first person for this assignment; first person is appropriate for a reflection.
The title of the paper should be included at the top of the first content page, above the introductory paragraph; introductions do not carry a heading labeling it the introduction (APA, section 2.27 p. 47).
Use the words in bold as your content headings (APA level 1, section 2.3, p. 48) to guide your content development:
Introduction introduce your topic inducing a purpose statement (per the APA manual, section 2.27, p. 47 the introduction does NOT carry the title introduction)
Personal Cultural Background Provide a brief overview; cultural values, beliefs, assumptions
Earliest Images and Exposures: Consider your earliest images and when you recognized differences between you and others based on the following criteria:
Ethnicity, race, gender, social class, religions, and/or sexual orientation
Describe your earliest recollection of when you met someone whose culture (review the definition) differed from yours
Assumptions: Discuss your assumptions about the person, family, community, and/or population that was different from you that you discussed in number three.
Influence of Experiences: How did your assumptions influence your interaction with the person or family, community, and/or population discussed in numbers three and four? 
Analysis and Reflection: Through a self-analysis, thoroughly analyze and reflect on how ones personal cultural background and experiences may influence attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors toward others
Conclusion summarizing the key points of the paper and what was learned completing this assignment.

Paper should be approximately 3-4 pages in length.
