DQ:  In understanding conventional and alternative medicine, it is helpful to study the assumptions basic to their theories, practices, and research. What are these assumptions and how will they impact your nursing practice?
Conventional Medicine is a system in which doctors, nurses and other health care providers work together to treat diseases, viruses and all existent conditions under the effect of chemical drugs, radiation, and invasive procedures such as surgeries and exploratory procedures. Fontaine, K. (2019).
Conventional Medicine bases its roots under the evidence-based concept practice, which means that a disease or medical condition will be researched, a group of doctors will work together to correlate the disease with a diagnostic and then, a plan of care will be developed to integrate other health care providers such as nurses, pharmacists and lab technicians to help treat the diseases using the conventional medicine method of science. Jansen, E. (2017).
On the other hand, Alternative Medicine practice the art of healing by using nonscientific methods or researches. Alternative Medicine implements the use of Acupuncture, Ayurveda, Homeopathy, Naturopathy and Chinese or Oriental medicine instead of using the effect of chemical medications or invasive procedures to diagnose and treat a condition. Alternative Medicine bases its roots on the organic effect of natural medicine to heal the mind and body and implements a more conservative and natural role to treat any condition. Fontaine, K. (2019).
