Company that could be good, but chooses not to
Aug 5, 2021 – Software Engineer II in Raleigh, NC
Pros
A lot of people at the company are absolutely wonderful and intelligent. There’s a potential to get a lot of great
hands on experience and people don’t coddle you or block you with red tape.
Cons
As many others have said, the culture is pretty strict and forced top-down from David Morken. If you aren’t
religious, enjoy working out all the time, or have traditional family values, you probably wont’ be very valued
(long term) here. David making light of people’s struggles during the pandemic and not taking precautions
seriously has made many people leave, and attrition is very high at the moment. I was really excited to join this
company as the culture seemed really close knit and supportive. While I’ve met many great people, the overall
company culture just doesn’t seem to align with the people who are working there which is why so many are
leaving. Not letting people be flexible and treating your employees like children is ruining chances for hiring
and retaining competent people, especially those in more senior roles. Teams were already low staffed for what
was expected of them, with attrition its been near on impossible.
Advice to Management
– Stop following David’s lead on office culture. A good culture forms organically and isn’t force fed from the
top down. – Benefits and Salary need to be catered to those who don’t have traditional families and/or don’t
enjoy working out every waking moment of the day as well as those who enjoy those things. – Shed the monoculture – Donuts at a team meeting doesn’t make up for all the glaring issues currently facing the company Take down the “Be Fruitful and Multiply” posters. It’s really strange and makes a lot of people uncomfortable in
the office.
Bandwidth Response
Thanks for the review. Sorry to hear your experience has not been positive. Our culture is designed not to be
top-down but rather 360 where we lift each other up, celebrate our differences and promote an environment
where Bandmates can be their authentic selves and feel a deep sense of belonging.

Great culture, great benefits and lots of growth opportunities
Sep 3, 2021 – Anonymous Employee
Pros
100% Paid health benefits, access to Udemy training, time-off and work-from-home flexibility, culture of
kindness, promotes from within
Cons
Wish there was a more structured path to learn about all the products and what each department does. Would
be nice if we just had more PTO rather than so many challenges to earn extra days off. The challenges are a lot
of extra work.
Advice to Management
Lower the amount of work involved in the challenges because they eat up a lot of our free time. Encourage
leaders to be flexible with WFH, if and when the mask mandates are lifted. If we can WFH successfully for over
a year, what’s the big deal if some people prefer it? It makes our lives easier and more enjoyable and I think
that’s what the BW culture is all about. Personally, I would just like the option to be home once a week because
I enjoy the office too, when it’s safe.
Bandwidth Response
Thanks for the review! All new hires are eligible for a full 20 days of PTO per year from the start – and can earn
additional days from our quarterly Challenges which are designed to inspire Bandmates to be more innovative,
healthier, think more deeply about important topics and push themselves to go beyond the status quo.
Regarding WFH: while we are an in-person culture, all Bandwidth leaders already do have flexibility to address
special circumstances.

A company that holds true to their core values
Aug 19, 2021 – Sales
Pros
The people. Bandwidth has some of the best people I’ve ever worked with. They have people who are willing to
go out of their way to help you. They have strong leadership that sticks to the foundation on what this
company was built on. David Morken has always been who he is & that’s why he’s so successful. It’s takes a
tough individual to not only build an empire but to maintain it. He holds true to his morals & values which is
rare to find these days. He doesn’t push them on anyone but he does expect you to uphold your end of
bargain as any good leader should. This is a place you can be truly be who you are, whatever that may look
like.
Cons
4
Too many employees who have a victim mentality. They rather sit & complain behind a screen than bring it up
to their senior management.
Advice to Management
Keep doing what you’re doing as we navigate through unforeseen times. The right individuals will stay &
Bandwidth will continue to flourish.

Bandwidth is a great place to work!
May 26, 2021 – Anonymous Employee
Pros
Bandwidth has some of the most genuinely nice people I have ever met. It doesn’t matter what department
you are in, everyone is friendly and willing to help. If you want to stay at Bandwidth, Bandwidth will help you
get to where you want in your career. I’ve never had a manager be so helpful and committed to helping me
move to another position not in the same dept, They are always focused in your career growth and willing to
help you get to where you want AS LONG as you put in the work. This is not a company you can slack off and
expect to get promoted. From day 1, it was made VERY clear that we would return back to the office. Yes, it
may be a little sooner than people expected but this has always been the plan. Enough employees are
vaccinated, this is as good of a time than ever.
Cons
When covid was at its worst, I think the covid response could have been handled better. Employees lead by
example and I think the CEO let his personal beliefs get in the way of a proper response. Despite what other
reviews may say, the CEO does not push his personal beliefs on anyone. Any prayer he does, he acknowledges
that you don’t have to participate if you don’t want to. I am not a religious person by any means and this does
not bother me or offend me.
Advice to Management
Keep doing what you are doing. Bandwidth is a great company. I think managers are handling the return to
office great and will make a point to be more flexible with wfh on a case by case basis. Thank you for valuing
your employees.

A Company Showing it’s Issues
Jun 2, 2021 – Senior Manager in Raleigh, NC
Pros
5
Good benefits, especially if you are starting a family. In my experience the majority of the employees are very
nice people. The workout lunch benefit is great.
Cons
When I started at Bandwidth three years ago I thought it’d be the place I retire. After going through how the
company has handled COVID though I see how some things that didn’t bother me much when I started have
big impacts on the company’s trajectory and it’s employees now. Unfortunately it mostly seems to come
directly from the CEO. Most of the other reviews here are true. They reluctantly let us work from home. They
pushed people to come back to the office. They sent weekly and daily emails advertising free lunch for people
that came in. We got emails about people with COVID attending company events. They required all employees
to come into the office June 2nd with no rules for mask wearing, vaccinations, etc. The CEO did say if you don’t
want to come in then than it might not be the company for you. It breaks my heart. On top of all of this the
actual product and teams are split between being a telecom network or being a software platform and many
competitors have outpaced us because of it.
Advice to Management
The CEO might have been the person for the job when he started the company but his personal beliefs and
lack of business acumen have made him a poor CEO for this stage of Bandwidth. Even the CFO and General
Council have left in my relatively short tenure here.
Bandwidth Response
Thank you for your feedback. Our unique culture is built on the close collaboration and creative energy of
working in person. That’s why we’re building a new headquarters campus with great amenities to continue
growing in a culture of being together. We encourage Bandmates to reach out to their manager or People
Services to address special circumstances.

Pay Attention.
Jun 15, 2021 – Anonymous Employee
Pros
Benefits NC State amenities Room to grow
Cons
Low Pay Micro Management Toxic Culture (Boys Club) Lack of Diversity Pay attention to the critical reviews as
well as the copied and pasted canned responses no doubt by the People Services team. The cons/reviews are
consistent, low pay with zero flexibility with high expectations of work and delivery with no return. You may get
a recognition email and a $25 Amazon gift card if nominated by your peers. COVID response was horrible.
Being 300 percent candid is not a real thing. Management will pull you aside if you give professional feedback
and chastise for your response. All of operations are being overworked, underpaid, and undertrained. Devs are
6
underpaid and not given the necessary tools to succeed. People are leaving at an alarming rate. Constant
reorganization happening around different departments. The Whole Person Promise looks good on paper but
employees know the truth and this last year showed exactly where commitments stand.
Advice to Management
Providing great benefits and a plan for a new work campus is not enough to keep your employees. Especially
your hardworking ones. Stop trying to bury the negative reviews here and actually fix the problem. Using the
term “collaboration” to hide you not trusting your employees and wanting to micro manage is very obvious.
Employees are not children. Spirit Weeks and Challenges are for great causes but still do not makeup for how
employees are viewed and treated by Upper Management.

Good Company with glaring issues
May 18, 2021 – Customer Success Manager in Raleigh, NC
Pros
The culture of this company is great and its fun to work here. I haven’t had many issues with people here as
well. The benefits are really good especially if you have a family. Great place to work right after college!!
Cons
It is true, people are leaving the company and I can see/understand why. This is coming from someone who
pre pandemic, wanted to retire at Bandwidth, however seeing what’s out there is quite eye opening. From
7
compensation to benefits & even culture, companies are offering more and more while Bandwidth is way
behind. Its telling when a good portion of the workforce needs to have a roommate to be able to afford living
in the area. Then we have the working in office full time deal. I understand the stance on the situation but at
least compensate more if your going that route. Plenty of companies are offering 30-40k more for the same
role which most would be okay with working in the office then. But then other companies are offering remote
work with higher pay as well, what would you choose when looking for employment. This is a great gig for
those right out of college as most of the employees are 3-4 years into their careers. If you are not in upper
management however it would be hard pressed to make a decent living.
Advice to Management
Listen to employees on issues which have been glaring for years. You cannot say Bandwidth will always be
competitive with compensation when you haven’t been up to this point.

I Don’t Like Working Here Anymore, Sadly
Aug 14, 2021 – Software Developer in Raleigh, NC
Pros
The people I’ve worked with over the years who are on the lower rungs of the corporate ladder are some of the
best people I’ve ever met. Before COVID, the vibe at the office was top-notch and we continued to have a lively
community online when we all went home due to the pandemic. Devs at Bandwidth don’t work excessive
hours, that’s a good thing too. I like the health insurance.
Cons
I originally typed out a novel to put here but even with this being anonymous, it makes me nervous to be too
vocal with criticism. Stay away if you have self-respect as a professional and a human being and don’t want to
catch COVID, that’s all I am going to say.
Advice to Management
I honestly have no advice because management has proven they are vehemently opposed to listening. As more
employees understand that, I am sure more and more people will move on to new opportunities. As the
Glassdoor ratings continue to tank, more and more people won’t want to work here. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Aug 15, 2021 – Sales Development Representative (SDR)
Pros
Coworkers are nice. I guess.
Cons
David Morken is a poor leader. He forced the staff back to the office with ZERO mask mandate, no query into
vaccination statuses, and no tracking. If someone tries to speak up or voice concerns they are told to “Stand
down” as if they were an enemy army. All he cares about is the perception of culture but Bandwidth has none.
All they do is force people into an unsafe office because they’re an “in person” culture (which is a meaningless
statement). People are leaving left and right. The pay is very low, only directors and above get any kind of
bonus, there’s no ESPP, and zero flexibility for remote work. This place is a full on catastrophe disguised in a
cult like sphere of happiness. Run away.
Advice to Management
Actually listen to your employees. All of them. Not just the ones who agree with what David thinks. Pay people
better. Treat everyone with respect.
Bandwidth Response
The safety and peace of mind of our Bandmates is a priority — while we have a preference for the collaboration
and innovation that comes from in-person work, team members have always had the flexibility to
accommodate special situations. Additionally, while mask mandates are in place, anyone at any of our locations
may choose to work remotely. In these unprecedented times, we continue to focus on our unique culture and
Whole Person Promise of meaningful work plus a full life. We hope you’ll reach out to People Services with
your feedback.

Great teammates, poor overall policies
May 12, 2021 – Software Engineer in Raleigh, NC
Pros
Teammates and lower level management are fantastic. I don’t think I could ask for a better group of people to
have worked with and learned from. My management was very supportive of my career goals and growth while
I worked here, and empowered me to continue growing and learning.
Cons
Salary and overall compensation is below current market rates by a decent margin. Benefits/insurance are only
exceptional if you have a family, otherwise they’re about average. Upper level management decisions and
directives are often implemented with no input from the employees affected or their management in many
cases. Strong emphasis on fitting every team into the same mold, with little room for self organization of
9
teams. Little flexibility related to wfh before the pandemic, and no one could tell me what the policy on this
would be as time went on. My managers were open to a mixed office/wfh schedule, but said it was ultimately
not up to them. Bandwidth’s covid response made me embarrassed to an employee of the company. The CEOs
(conservative) personal beliefs and principals greatly influenced all company policy surrounding the pandemic
and often went against or ignored CDC reccomendations. Finally, on a personal note, I found the praying at the
beginning of every company-wide all-hands meetings to be very non-inclusive and often made me
uncomfortable.
Advice to Management
Pay people more and let them work from home if they want.
Bandwidth Response
Thank you for your feedback. We know salaries are changing rapidly in our region, so we use extensive data to
keep our salaries as competitive as possible. In addition, our Whole Person Promise provides industry-leading

Showing it’s cracks more than ever
May 24, 2021 – Senior Software Engineer in Raleigh, NC
Pros
Definitely plenty of room for growth for Software Engineers, but have to take control of your own success
(don’t rely on them to promote / pay more on their own and know your market-rate) Benefits geared towards
those with family or just starting out. Great co-workers up and down the management chain.
Cons
No real structured mentor-ship programs to grow your career or salary. Pay is low compared to other
companies in the area and Bandwidth does a poor job of retaining talent as devs quickly realized their under
payed after 2 years or so. A big focus on benefits instead of salary so do the math to see if it’s worth it for your
situation. The shared prayers before all-hands and bible quotes throughout the hallway are awkward if you’re
not into that lifestyle. No work flexibility and generally a poor COVID response. They’re losing talent now and
doubled down on the “no remote work” instead of listening to employees.
Advice to Management
Work to make the place more inclusive as you’re forcing people back to the office. Shouldn’t be awkward for
me to attend an all hands in person or walk through the hallways. Revisit pay structure and compensation. The
culture is homogenizing rapidly (not a good thing) as the CEO routinely suggests dissenters to “work
somewhere else” if they don’t agree with certain policies.

overworked & underpaid
Jul 6, 2021 – Sales and Marketing in Raleigh, NC
Pros
-Love the people at Bandwidth. Truly good people who care about each other – The benefits are good – Nice
office, and building a new HQ that will be great
Cons
– Extremely underpaid compared to the job market and industry. 20k+ pay gap. – Very little remote work
flexibility, you need to have an excuse or reason deemed valid by leadership to WFH. This promotes a toxic
culture of comparing personal lives, and awarding WFH to those who “need it” most. – Micro-managed by
leadership. – No transparency. It is clear from these reviews that people are leaving Bandwidth at an alarming
rate, and leadership has not once addressed it directly. -Shameful amount of diversity.
Advice to Management
Please do something! I used to love working for Bandwidth, but times have changed and people’s needs have
changed, too. Pay people fairly. Trust them to WFH. Whether management is aware or not, a lot of people are
looking for jobs elsewhere right now. Great people will continue to leave if BIG changes are not made asap.

These people really care!
Jun 16, 2021 – Anonymous Employee in Raleigh, NC
Pros
1. Every manager I’ve had very much cares about your personal and career development. They really want you
to succeed and grow within the company. 2. The culture is generally great and I’ll have memories that last a
lifetime with some co-workers. I am grateful for a company that does embrace the in person culture post11
vaccines. 3. Your voice matters. Speaking to your manager & people services manager, candidly, actually gets
you places!
Cons
1. Salaries can be somewhat on the lower side. You generally could paid more at a larger company. 2.
Unfortunately, I am not a fan of how the CEO handled covid during earlier stages. There was a push, by the
CEO, to get people back in the office 6 months before vaccines were available to the general public. This never
panned out as cases were rising significantly during that time period. 3. We are all back in the office now and
there’s no way to know if everyone you work with is vaccinated.
Advice to Management
Keep on supporting those Employees 🙂
Bandwidth Response

A “tech” company run by the lovechild of Joel Osteen and Tony Robbins
Sep 7, 2021 – Anonymous Employee
Pros
– health benefits are the best I’ve personally received from any position I’ve held – decent PTO and the ability to
earn more through challenges – catered lunches available to buy at work – workout time during lunch
Cons
– incompetent managers that will occasionally leave you in the dark, depending on the circumstance operations/sales departments are severely underpaid. Other companies with the same departments don’t pay
an hourly wage, and usually up to $12k more per year. Employees, in general, are paid poorly. – obvious
favoritism with workers who are white/straight/cisgender/religious/married – CEO prides himself on keeping a
culture of “togetherness” but is openly doubtful of the severity of COVID-19 and treats any formal discussion of
it as “drama” – lack of diversity in general within the company – departments are cliquish and don’t adjust well
to change… unless you’re one of them – promotions/switching departments are heavily reliant on favoritism. If
your manager doesn’t particularly like you, don’t expect to get very far.
Advice to Management
Seeing that the attrition rate is currently at an all-time high, I would think that BW would’ve made more drastic
decisions for improvements… but they haven’t. I personally expected to go very far as an employee and was
very much ready to do so, but I wasn’t honored for my work simply because I wasn’t well-liked. It seems like
any higher-ups favor those who align with the monolith of the CEO’s personal beliefs, or people they referred
12
to the company for a position. The COVID situation itself was a huge red flag, as the CEO kept the office open
(despite half a million people dying in the US from the disease) and used free lunches and other shallow perks
to reel employees in. Working from home in turn seemed deeply frowned upon. He eventually called everyone
back into office- without any sort of mandatory weekly testing, proof of vaccination, or any tangible solution to
ensure everyone stays healthy. After dozens of employees organized to do something about these potentially
dangerous working conditions, they were dismissed as trying to “start drama”. A global health crisis isn’t gossip
and drama and shouldn’t be treated as such. If Bandwidth wants to do something to change… drop the
religious shtick and honor people as they are. Praying during quarterly reports, having bible verses plastered
everywhere (“be fruitful and multiply” on a poster of employees’ kids), and never taking any public stance on
issues regarding the Black/BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities are NOT neutral positions. It is obvious that David
Morken would rather make things his way vs. growing in the way that the world grows. Similar SaaS companies
have continuously progressed, so there is no excuse to stay ideologically stagnant. The efforts they’ve made are
not enough. Please stop sponsoring spirit weeks and pizza parties and give your workers the salaries they
deserve. The health benefits are great in many aspects, but for people who aren’t building a family or are
married, they can only go so far. For a company that is willing to go the extra mile to succeed, they have an
incredible amount of work to do to catch up with the rest of the world.

Too churchy/culty and doesn’t believe in Covid.
Sep 29, 2021 – Sales
Pros
Great benefits package (but low salaries), gym membership at NC State, motivated to work out at lunch. Can be
a good place for people just getting into sales (SDR program for instance). A few people will find big leads and
see huge commission payouts.
Cons
Very churchy/cult like company. Praying is part of most meetings (and all meetings with the CEO). CEO anticovid, required all employees to be in the office with no mask mandate even when employees were testing
positive around the clock! CEO once said “I want to go to China, get Covid, and survive” which is a disgusting
mix of racially offensive and insensitive. Sales org is lead by individuals who do not understand the product or
how to sell in general. Unrealistic expectations that change constantly. Everyone fights over opportunities in
SFDC, tracks touches, and steals leads from each other in the wee hours of the morning and late at night. Little
to no diversity across org, and especially in C-Suite.
Advice to Management
Stop overthinking dials and stats, that is NOT the way sales is conducted these days. LEARN THE PRODUCT so
you can help your sales people instead of micromanaging how many dials they had as a success metric. Before
you post “Sorry your experience wasn’t perfect” or “we can agree to disagree on facts” here, the thing about
facts is, they are FACTS. Trust science and stop with the bible thumping.

Nov 2, 2021 – National Account Manager in Raleigh, NC
Pros
Benefits were good, free bananas, cool t-shirts
Cons
I mean, pretty much everything. Sales management is full of themselves and they spent a lot of time basically
berating employees with fear tactics and bullying. 80% of the account management team left the company
over a 4-6 month period due to these “management” tactics. If you aren’t a “Yes Man/Woman”, you get put on
a plan whether you are performing or not. They prey on people taking this job as a stepping stone job out of
school and some people don’t know any better.
Advice to Management

Bandwidth care or know about. Stop trying to be the cool company. You aren’t. You can’t fix everything with a
donut on Valentines Day and some cool t-shirts.

Great Company
Nov 3, 2021 – Key Customer Account Manager in Raleigh, NC
Pros
14
Great people, lateral feeling leadership, not top down, employees really valued.
Cons
Typical growing pains for an on the rise company, but nothing the company won’t figure out over time. Salaries
could be a bit more generous, to retain staff. Key Account Manager position really needs to be just a break/fix
customer operations support role, with projects/migrations given to a focused project management team.
Advice to Management
Keep on rockin bandmates!

My 3 Years
Dec 7, 2021 – Customer Success Manager
Pros
90 minute workout lunches & great health insurance. They’ve recently increased yearly PTO allotment, on top
of volunteer & challenge days. I have never once felt pressured to pray at a company gathering. I always found
this to be a peaceful time where gratitude was expressed for employee contributions.
Cons
Pay. Leadership is aware of the industry discrepancy. Salary ranges have strict caps, so internal movement to
other positions may mean a pay cut. Management. I’ve never experienced anything quite like it. There is so
much wasted energy put into protecting a broken system. Change is not welcome. Suggestions for
improvement are seen as a personal insult. Covid-19 Handling. Bandwidth initiated a temporary work from
home policy that lasted for a little over a year & reversed that decision with a 2 week notice, mandating that
employees return to the office on June 2, 2021. Upon receiving the email informing me of this decision, I
immediately reached out to my leadership to express that I hadn’t yet been vaccinated. My plea was that I’d be
given time to get vaccinated & allowed to delay my return 14 days after my second vaccine (per CDC
guidance). I offered to show proof throughout this process, so they knew I wasn’t trying to get out of coming
in. When asked if I felt comfortable returning, I stated I would never choose to return at that time, as I felt it
was an avoidable risk. I was told anyone who wanted to get vaccinated, could’ve already done so at that point
& that I needed to return to the office on June 2 as required. In person culture was too important to the
mission to wait until I was fully vaccinated. Reread that. No formal training. Employees train new hires while
doing their full time job. Management is not a resource.
Advice to Management
Be an available resource for your team when they need help. Listen to opinions that differ & advocate for your
team and all of it’s members.

RUN
Dec 9, 2021 – Anonymous Employee
Pros
Literally nothing. Low pay and no work-life balance. If you want to get promoted have a kid… they really want
to lock you in. 99% of promotions were given after someone announced they were pregnant or gave birth.
Cons
Long hours and LOW pay. They get you right out of college and insist on the lowest pay possible you will never
get a raise. Their “Raises” are $1000 a year broken over 12 months if you are lucky. Management is
brainwashed by the CEO and 2 years into a global pandemic care more about butts in seats than protecting
their workforce. You work overtime always as a salaried employee and there is no work life balance whatsoever.
This company could care less about you. If I were you I would not work here.
Advice to Management
Hello? Us employees still exist. Maybe we don’t want to come into the office because you aren’t requiring
vaccinations and maybe because every other week you send us an email that there was an outbreak in the
building or other buildings. No we don’t feel safe. And the fact that all you care about is us being in our seat
instead of letting us get our work done from home as we have been for the last year and a half is genuinely
concerning! We matter. Follow other large companies and let us work from home until its safe!

Benefits are not all that matter
Jan 23, 2022 – Sales Development Representative (SDR) in Raleigh, NC
Pros
Good PTO and paid-for health and dental, work/life balance is good
Cons
Very misleading when hiring Sales Development Reps (SDRs). They tell you in the interview that you can
“easily” hit your OTE (ordinary time earnings → the $ you make when you hit your sales quota), however, less
than 20% of SDRs hit quota month over month. They are not honest in the hiring process about this. Very
difficult to move internally outside of sales if you don’t want to become an Account Executive as there is no
strategic growth plans for SDRs who don’t want to be a Closer.
Advice to Management
Give individuals the resources to be confident and successful consistently, and don’t discourage/talk down on
those who aren’t interested in becoming a closer. Just makes people want to leave the company altogether.
