For the first step of the chain of infection,
individuals who were sick with coronavirus went to
the hospital to get help and diagnosis for their
issues. For the second step of the chain of
infection, public health officials tried to deal with
the coronavirus by utilizing contact-cleaning, such
as wiping down desks after students leave with
disinfecting wipes. For the third step of the chain of
infection, social distancing by keeping a distance of
6 feet from others was used to reduce the spread
of coronavirus. For the fourth step of the chain of
infection, people were told/made to quarantine for
a specified amount of time if they had been in
contact with someone who tested positive for
coronavirus, or had tested positive themselves. For
the fifth step of the chain of infection, people
reduced portal of entry by wearing masks to either
reduce spread of coronavirus or protect
themselves from it. For the sixth step of the chain
of infection, elderly patients that were more
susceptible to COVID-19 were prioritized in terms
of medical care.
Additionally, the making of a COVID-19 vaccine has
added another layer of dealing with the pandemic,
and those who were at risk were prioritized to get
the COVID-19 vaccine. The creation of faster and
more efficient/accurate COVID-19 tests allowed
people to sooner determine if they had COVID-19,
which allowed them to reduce spread and help
determine the source of infection within a given
area. Finally, work mandates such as vaccination
requirements helped ensure people were
vaccinated against COVID-19 to reduce infection
spread.
