Values and beliefs
As an advanced human services practitioner concerned with leading change efforts to
benefit individuals and communities and create a more just society, I am influenced by my
interpersonal skills and interprofessional collaboration. Interpersonal skills refer to major
human service traits that have helped me develop an identity as a professional (SparkmanKey et al., 2018). My interpersonal skills include confidence, personal strengths, and support
from my colleagues. My service delivery is centered on confidence that guides me through
my interaction with clients and colleagues for a common goal. My strengths motivate my
interaction with other people, bringing the best out of me. Support is critical and makes other
human services practitioners my most excellent resource as I utilize them for my professional
development. I value interprofessional collaboration as I feel confident in service delivery,
considering it is for the client’s good (Winfield et al., 2017). My value for interprofessional
partnership has grown tremendously because it fulfills me following holistic client care.
My definition of self as a practitioner in leadership
I would define myself as a human services professional practitioner characterized by
personal strength, internalized beliefs, and professional strengths that make me fit in my
position and nurture my development (Sparkman-Key et al., 2018). I have developed a
professional identity that gives me confidence in service. Professional identity has helped me
develop a connection with my field, giving me the courage to collaborate with other
professionals for the good of the clients in need of my services.
My special interests
As an advanced human services professional practitioner, I am interested in restoring
human dignity and saving lives. In particular, I am interested in meeting the fundamental

needs of the individuals and groups in question. However, I am more interested in working
with children and those who speak to a passion for social justice, particularly for children.
