Pro:  The USA should follow the example of other democracies by limiting how long one can serve on its constitutional court. As lifespans have increased, U.S. Supreme Court justices have come to serve for an incredibly long time. More frequent turnover on the Supreme Court will make it more responsive to societal changes. A Court full of old people who have served for decades can hardly be in touch with the modern world.

Con:  Limiting the terms of the justices would be a mistake in that it would make them more subject to political pressures. As Hamilton wrote in

#78, life terms for Supreme Court justices are an excellent means of ensuring an impartial administration of the laws. When a justice serves for life, he or she does not have to worry about their next job. Thus, they are free to make courageous decisions that protect minority rights.
