You are an Embry-Riddle Associate Dean for Academic Integrity.
A student has been caught plagiarizing an assignment and you must write a formal letter to notify him of his punishment.
The student?s name is William Dennis (this is a fictional student). His address is: 1234 Elm Street, Closter, NJ 07624.
William Dennis has plagiarized a significant amount of his ENGL 221 class paper from an FAA research report without attributing the source.
Your letter will inform him that, according to university policy, he will fail the course, although he may retake the course in a future term.
In addition, a copy of this letter will be placed in his student file and he will be placed on academic probation. Any future violation of academic integrity may result in his expulsion from the university.
Be sure to include all of the following elements of standard business letters: Heading, Date, Inside address, Salutation, Body, Close, Typed Name. You do not need to include an actual signature, although you should leave the proper space for one. Follow the letter format laid out in figure 16.2, Block Format. As practice for future assignments and the final report, please include a graphic logo in the letter’s header.
