Hello Everyone! There are quite a few knowledge areas project managers concern themselveswith through the course of their responsibilities. This course helped reveal tome that I need to improve on the procurement and stakeholder areas. I used to think of procurement as being the purchase and acquisition functionsin acquiring products needed to complete projects. In the process of writingthe paper, I found that procurement encompasses everything from “material,capital equipment, and supplies to solutions, labor, and services” (A Guide tothe Project Management Body of Knowledge, Seventh Edition AND TheStandard for Project Management, 2021, p. 74). That said, it widened myunderstanding of procurement as a discipline and gave me a deeper respect forthe process. This is something I’ll have to get into the literature more tocompletely understand. On the other hand, the stakeholders’ questions on the quizzes have been afrequent are that I’ve struggled with. The questions normally involvedinternational project teams who had their own management teams accountedfor in the stakeholder engagement plans. I always chose answers involvingkeeping those stakeholders informed and seeking consensus before raising theissue to the sponsor, but it seems that the course work wants you to chooseengaging the sponsor before all else. This seems counterintuitive because thecoursework also teaches that stakeholders could derail projects when projects

do not align with their interests. This thinking leads me to believe thatachieving consensus (at least from the majority) is a logical first step beforerecommending solutions to the sponsor. I’m curious to see what PMI’s StudyHall resources dictate on it.

Hi Class,

I cannot believe that we are already to the end of this class. I honestly feel very prepared for

the PMP exam. However, I think that there are still areas that I need to work on. The quizzes in

this course I’ve been very helpful with practicing and understanding my weaknesses when it

comes to remembering all of the project management Institute information. The tenant

knowledge areas or some thing that will help me in my project management career forever

more. I think that I could definitely study up on the different procurement strategies. The

reason that I find myself struggling with procurement is because in my current career, I don’t

work with contracts, and procurement too much. Understanding all the different types of

contracts will help me be a more successful project manager, and it’s an area. I need to work on

before taking the PMP exam.

I think integration is also a weakness that I find myself forgetting a lot of the terminology for.

When studying further for the PMP exam, I will definitely make extra notecards to study the

different concepts of integration. I’m curious if other members in the class are struggling with

these two knowledge areas like I am, or if other areas are coming more difficult. For me

understanding, project, scope, time, and risk were the easiest areas for me to memorize,

because in my current career and construction I deal with these project management elements

every single day at work.
