A short, two-page reflection over the shooting at Oxford High School in Michigan that occured Tuesday afternoon. Hana St. Juliana,
Madison Baldwin, Justin Shilling and Tate Myre were killed, shot in their own school. A 15-year-old shooter put his hands up and dropped
his weapon upon the approach of police and went peacefully. In Michigan, you are not allowed to speak to juveniles and his parents are
asking for a lawyer to be there and not to speak to their son.
Take this from the perspective of our talks on Juveniles – what should we do? He is being charged as an adult. Do we give up on him and
his life completely now? What is appropriate? How do we prevent this type of tragedy, if we can.
Talk about guns and who should be allowed to have them, if that is the perspective you want to take.
Talk about what can be done . how you reacted. Is this no longer a shock when it occurs? What lessons should we take from this tragedy?
Or have we learned anything from any school shooting?
Give me something that you have learned in this class to apply to this situation.
Two pages, double-spaced, one-inch margins, 12 pica font. A reaction personally and something that you have learned.
